University of Texas Medical Branch
Galveston, TX 77555
The property on which the university sits has a questionable origin, but many find merit in the version of its history in which the property once belonged to a fisherman. As the legend goes, during the last decades of the fisherman's life, he was made many offers by the university to acquire the land, but time and again the fisherman refused. Ultimately, the University of Texas was able to purchase the land when the fisherman died. However, some say the fisherman still possesses the land, and his spirit if felt on the property. Despite moving a street light, and sandblasting and repainting the wall facing Galveston Bay, the fisherman's face continues to burn through, terrifying those who spot it.
